Memphis Street Rods
“Drive Line”
With 57 members and guests in attendance, the meeting for April, 2026 was held at the Southaven Library. We chowed down on fried chicken, bbq beans, slaw with cookies for dessert. Johnnie welcomed everyone and thanked those who supplied the dinner and then read off all those having birthdays in April.
Larry gave the treasurers report and assured us we had some money. There are still a few members who have not paid their dues, but we know they are tied up taking care of their wives…..so no worries,.
The get together at Poteet farm went as well as expected in spite of the rain. There were about 200 people who showed up. Many, I am sure, didn’t come because of the weather forecast. But we had a great time anyway! We had BBQ with Mikey’s famous beans, tater salad, slaw with chocolate cobbler and your choice of vanilla or butter pecan ice cream for dessert. Several of Mikes buddies from where he lives came down and did 90% of the cooking. Several of our members helped out with setting up the tables and chairs under the tent and helping with whatever else needed to be done. Needless to say, a lot of food went home with the helpers.
Johnnie reported on where we are with this year’s show and the meetings taking place over the next few days. Hopefully we can nail down the Desoto Co. Tourist Commission with a dollar amount, finalize our security for the show and decide which two or three hotels will be our Host hotels. Still lot of foot work to be done, but we will make it happen. We have several potential sponsors lined up and with any luck we will add them to our next flyer. We also plan to amend our current flyer to include our sponsors, the list of cars we are allowing in this year and the host hotels. We plan on having those ready before our next meeting. As soon they are in our hands I will notify everyone. It’s time to get serious about handing these things out.
I reported on the Celebration of Life service for Lee Ann Lyon. The service will be Saturday the 11th, from 4pm to 6pm at Mike and Lee Anns house on the river. The address to their house is 852 (CR) Count Road 956, Iuka Ms.

HUMOR
A man was walking home from the bar late one night when he sees a woman in the shadows. “Twenty Bucks” she says. Having never been with a prostitute before he figures “what the heck”!
They are going at it for a minute when all of a sudden a bright light flashes on them……it’s a policeman!
“What’s going on here people” asks the officer.
“I am making love to my wife” the man answers indignantly. “Oh, I’m sorry…..I didn’t know says the officer.
“Well,” says the man “to tell the truth neither did I until you flashed that light on us”
A man and a woman who didn’t know each other were assigned the same sleeping room on a Trans -Continental Train. Initially they were embarrassed and I little uneasy with the shared room, but after a while, being very tired, they fell asleep. He was in the top bunk and she was in the lower. Later that night, the man reached down and gently woke the woman saying “Ma’am I’m sorry to wake you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet and get me another blanket? “I’m cold”
“I have a better idea” she replied. “Just for tonight let’s pretend that we are married”! “Wow, that’s a great idea” he exclaimed “Good” she replied “Get you own freakin blanket” After a moment of silence he farted! (just like being married)
